Back To Reality Ten

The Fan Club magazine hits double digits.

19 August, 2016

For various reasons, it's been an up-and-down few years for The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club's magazine. Back to Reality - the replacement for the long-running Better than Life - relaunched in 2009, but various production issues meant that for its first few years, there were only a handful of issues released. Happily, however, since getting a revamp in 2014 as a digital-only mag, the team have been able to put the 'zine out on a more regular schedule, with issues now landing twice each year.

Back To Reality Ten

As such, we're delighted to congratulate the team on reaching their tenth issue - as the latest mag makes its way to members' inboxes just in time to capitalise on all that pre-Red Dwarf XI excitement. Issue ##10, of course, rounds up all the latest news about the series - but as ever, the team have gone above and beyond in delving into the nitty-gritty of Red Dwarf past, present and future. So there's also an in-depth feature on the very episode that gives the mag its title, and yet more analysis - following the extensive article last issue - of Lister's jacket, along with wise words from two cosplayers who've made excellent replicas of our favourite slob's beloved garment.

In addition, there's a lengthy interview with the thoroughly charming Series VII, VIII and Space Corps Survival Manual writer Paul Alexander, and a look back at Rob Grant's post-Dwarf sitcom, The Strangerers. And there's even room, as ever, for fan-written fiction and comic strips.

To get your hands on Back to Reality, there's only one thing you can do: join the Fan Club! It costs £15 for four issues of BTR (at current schedule, that's around two years of membership) and you also get the regular Psi-Scan email newsletter, access to an archive of old BTR and BTL fanzines, an exclusive members' only chat forum, special competitions, and a discount on the registration fee for Dimension Jump, the fan club convention next taking place in April 2017.
