Nice. Who's that sitting to Robert's right?
Chris Barrie who plays ‘Rimmer’
I meant to write 'left' there.
All ‘Bantz’ aside to his left is Norman Lovett which is great news.
I thought it looked like Norman. I'm so glad to see he's going to be part of this.
Crazy to think these 5 have only ever done 1 series together before now, and that included several other main characters.
I think it was BabyCow Prpduction that first posted this.
It would be first "series" with these 5 in the crew.
Maybe other characters will also show up.
This is all thoroughly exciting news!!
Do you think @Stephen might return for this occasion?
Sounds exciting obviously. I am really pleased too that Norman Lovett is involved again. Hattie was virtually as fantastic and I really enjoyed her performances in series 3-5, but Norman is by an extremely slight margin my favourite Holly. Just have to hope the writing of his dialogue by Doug is very, very good although for some reason I enjoyed most of his lines in series 8 although he was almost completely restricted as a joke cracking tool. Still, although it is not anywhere near the standard of series 2-6, I enjoyed that 1999 run quite a fair bit so maybe that explains why really.
He's my favourite by a huge margin. He's the only person I ever want to see playing Holly. Hattie seems to be a nice person, but I never liked her in Red Dwarf.
I hope we will see Hattie in the special too. Doug said in an interview she might return. I think she would be keen to participate and it wpuld be great to see her involved in some form.
How disgraceful to Hattie.
Her performance as Holly was good. I think the problem was that she didn't get enough space in the show. It was very sad, when she appeared twice in the episode just to say they were changing course...
I always thought her performances were awful. As I said, she seems a nice person from what I've seen, so I feel bad saying this, but I never thought she was any good in the role. She lacked the fantastic deadpan, effortless delivery of Norman and her overall acting was poor. Even embarrassing in parts.
The return of Hattie Hayridge as well if it does happen would obviously be welcome too IMHO. I know in series 5 there was quite a lot of "opening"/"closing" doors dialogue but even in that 1992 run she does have some quality moments. The "It's not going to be your night" speech in Terrorform is really funny and her facial expressions she uses when responding to Rimmer repeatedly returning before leaving in the escape pod in Quarantine are well acted and comical. Meanwhile - although she does not have a lot of dialogue - she is very sinister as the Evil Holly in Demons and Angels while the "thankfully Holly's unaffected" scene is comedy gold. But I rest my case for Hattie being quietly effective in series 5 with her departing by superbly saving the Dwarfers from the suicide squid.
I am not denying that she is mostly sidelined in the 1992 run but even in a quiet series - as after all Kryten had taken over most of the exposition by series 3 anyway - she has a few "wow moments" IMHO.
So if she did return that would be perfectly fine, but hopefully with a few more lines.
Isn't that Steve Coogan's company?
He was on set of Red Dwarf XII, but nobody noticed him, because John Pomphrey was also there.
